How To - Repair The Display in Late Pontiac Stereos PDF Print E-mail
User Rating: / 4
PoorBest

A common enough issue with Pontiac CD-Players and Stereos is the display bulb burning out. This causes the display to be normally unreadable, but shining a flashlight on it makes it appear.

The factory bulb is a holder and bulb assembly, part # 16208443 . The bulb may still be available at dealers, and is available at GMPartsDirect.com

Alternatively you can remove the bulb and solder in a replacement from radioshack, this is the method I used. Note that the recommended bulbs in the article linked below are physically much smaller than the bulb you are removing. I have found the performance of the smaller bulb to be quite satisfactory however.
