I have replaced the clutch slave and master cylinders in my 1984 Fiero. The parts replaced were Bendix that match the originals. I bled the system by standard method of using the pedal without success. I bled the system with a Mityvac, with the same results. I can't get any pressure at the slave. No leaks that I can find and it's not losing fluid during the bleading procedures. The pedal was straightened back to the original position to cure the bending problem 1984's experience and is aligned with the rod well. Clutch pedal is still is lower than the brake pedal as it was before the work was done. Should I buy the adjustable rod Rodney Dickman? I am stumped. Is there an internal bleed off valve in the clutch master? Huh

Have you tried gravity bleeding at all? You just open the clutch reservoir and open the bleeder on the slave and let the fluid drip out for some time.

I did try this before borrowing the Mityvac bleeder. I left it for several days. I failed to mention that I removed all the fluid from the line when I changed the cylinders. I read somewhere that there is a pressure relief valve in the master to keep pressure off the throwout bearing. Is that true?
Thanks!

I don't know about there being a pressure relief valve, I haven't heard of that anyway. Seems that would be a safety issue though as it could let the clutch out on its own.

So fluid does come out of the slave cylinder when you bleed it using the pedal? But the slave doesn't move when you close the bleeder?

Possible your slave is bad, can you push the clutch arm by hand?

Just a note on the pedal level:  My 84 had a stuck cylinder. After fixing that and successfully bleeding the cylinder my clutch pedal was also below the brake pedal (maybe as much as two inches). When I tried to shift, the clutch was not disengaging enough. It turns out that the previous owner tried to force the cylinder free and bent the pedal. I managed to bend the pedal back with some pursuasion tools (prybar) to the level of the brake and all was well.

I don't know of any secrets on the bleeding. On brake cylinders they suggest bench bleeding prior to install to get the hidden bubbles out.
good luck.

My Dad's Indy had the same problem, slave cylinder seized and a previous owner mashed the clutch pedal to the floor. Maybe your pedal is still a bit bent Kopperkart, if Indy's clutch pedal comes up to the brake pedal level.

I've only personally owned 1 manual Fiero and didn't do a lot of work on it.
