Some pics of a 88 Formula I picked up for $300, soon to be choptop.
I had to dig it out of a guy's backyard, it had been sitting since there since 1998.

Looks pretty good, just seems like it needs some attention. I'm sure you will give it what it needs.

I'm impressed that interior looks so clean. Mine sat since 1998 as well but my interior is junk.

How many miles does that thing have?

Around 90,000 original miles. The car started up instantly after sitting not running or driving for 8 years. All i had to do was replace the fuel pump and it started right up. Right now it can be completely cold and it will start the instant you touch the key.

I may very well be doing a motor swap, probably a N*, but I start it up every week and let it run for a while to try and keep it going in case I don't do the swap.

By the way, feel free to start a thread of your own car, or anything else for that matter Grin

I think i might do that. Like start a thread of the stuff that needs done and what I have done.

Sadly I don't have any pics of stuff during the repairs or replacement of things.

That's alright, i remember you do have some decent pics of your car with the camera phone.  Your car is an excellent example of typical Fiero issues, shift cables, calipers, throttle cable, etc. Would be good to have a thread about it.

Any pics you can take during repairs are always a plus  Wink

Well I'll deffinatly try to remember to get some pics of my shift cable, brake calipers, and my recall strip installs. But that could be a while. I need a garage to be able to work on it at, and for the moment I'm living at my grandma's. Although my mom is looking at a house it doesn't have a garage. And i don't have a tent big enough to park my car in, but i think i'll have to buy one if it looks like we will be there for a while. I can't stand the thought of not being able to work on it for that long.

I got my tent for $300 ish at BJ's. Not an excellent tent by any means, but plenty big enough for my Fiero. I believe its 20ft long by 12ft wide or something like that. The only problem is the material wears through a little easy, but I've had mine for 3 years now and its still working out alright. I found some hanging fluorescent lights, like you see in schools and such, and wired em up. Makes for a nice workspace. Now I just need a heater.

Yeah thats sort of what i was thinking about. The heater thing is never fun. Out in my old garage I tried everything from small catylatic(sp) heaters to little electric ceramic heaters but none were big enough for the garage. and i lacked money and space for any of those big kerosene heaters.

I was looking at some online:

http://www.air-n-water.com/

A few there less than $150, im just not sure how well it would work. It sucks working in the cold though.

May find some used ones, like on craigslist or similiar to that. I've got to stay on top of that, its in the 30's at night here and it will be cold during the day soon, can't do a heck of a lot with frozen parts.

I put the heads and up back on mostly in below 40 degree temps last winter. Outside. Up untill i cleared out the garage and pulled the car in on christmas eve where i finished buttoning up everything without having to worry about the snow.

No, I believe I need to drop the engine to get at that manifold. Found another frustrating issue the other day. One of my cylinders wasn't firing while I was exercising it, so I went to change the plugs and found that the front 3 are completely rusted off. There's nothing there to attach a socket to.  Angry

One more thing for the list.

wow all four of mine were starting to get that bad but they still had alittle to grab onto so that worked out for me. But good luck with that then, i guess you'll have to drop the cradle no matter what.
