1  General Category / Fiero Help / Fiero Chat / Fuel Pump Not Working on: July 10, 2007, 03:37:27 PM
 Shocked
Xanth,
I had my fuel pump stop working a while back and someone recommended that I change the relay. It worked for about two months then when I tried to roll down the window on a hot day I turn it and the pump didn't prime the engine. I replaced the relay but nothing. Now Im driving with power going to the fuel pump terminal via the diagnostic plug. any ideas?

Hello everyone,
I got good news; due to my current tranny dilemma I was fortunate enough to fine a misprint with Checkers/Schucks/Kragen auto parts. I bought the slave cylinder for only $37.99. It’s regularly $100.00. All I had to do was bring in a copy of the web page with the part/prices. I’m getting 2 more just in case. Here is the link…

 Undecided Great post Xanth,
I did the test on the connector (top right)  next to the cigarette lighter and found that the fuel pump still came on. Would it still be good and where is the relay? I got under the steering wheel to check the fuel pump fuse/ relay but couldn't find anything. Any idea?
Also to update you on the Clutch, I replaced the (2) slave Cyl and and still only got 1/2 inch in rod travel. I'm focusing on the master next, it's got a dark cloudy residue at the bottom of the resivoir. I rebuilt it once before but now it's back. I also got the steel peddle so. I'm pretty sure it's the Master cyl.
Thanks
David

I had the same problem when I tried to open mine. I replaced the switch and it works fine now.

Welcome Horsepower. Hope to see some pictures of your rides in the future. I have an 86 GT that I'm in the process of repainting.

Grin Thanks Xanth, I read the link and found some more options.
May be a longer throw rod will help.

 Undecided
Under8ted,
I went home last night and checked the following based on some tips from another forum ans this is what I found.
1. Measured the throw on the clutch slave Cylinder: I measured 3/4 of an inch. I was surprised and did it several times.
2. Check cables: both were easily pulled with little effort.
3. Pedal 1 inch higher than break pedal: Looked about right since I tried to measure while upsidedown and while squatting down to look with the door open.
4. Cable hold down and pviot: Both were secure.
I wonder if the master cylinder is not working to it's full potential. Could the master cylinder need changing again. I replaced the parts inside the housing but lastnight noticed the break fluid is starting to look darker than when fresh.
 Huh

Grin I’ve had this problem for a while when I try to shift in and out of gears, it seems like pulling teeth.
I replaced my aluminum pedal to a metal one. That only solved one of many more problems. I later burned the throw-out bearing trying to get it into gear. After replacing the clutch, Pressure plate throw out bearing, clutch lever, pedal, both master/slave cylinder, and purging the fluids in the line, I’m back to one again. On start up it shift fine no problem but after just the first couple miles it feels like it doesn't want to go into or out of gear. The clutch has been bleed several times and I even checked it by stepping on the clutch while it was in gear to see if it would slip and it does. The clutch cable seems fine and I don’t drive it hard. Does anyone have any suggestions?
 Huh
